About Dan “The Video Man”

Dan “The Video Man” Gelfond first found his passion for videography when he became an interviewer for a Steven Spielberg project from 1994-1998. He realized he had a knack for making people feel comfortable in front of a camera.

When the project ended, he wanted to continue his videography journey and extend his services, so that’s what he did. In 1998, Keepsake Family Tree Video was born and soon became a full service local videography company. Since its start, Keepsake Family Tree Video has sought to bring people joy.

Dan’s favorite part of the business is that every project, no matter what, ends in making his customers happy. “Memories and stories are powerful. They can make people cry or laugh,” he said. “seeing that kind of joy in my customers is what makes me smile.”

Dan is passionate about giving back to the community, and speaks regularly around the North Shore area about how to preserve a legacy on film. Dan has been featured in The Deerfield Review, NorthShore Magazine, PureWow, WBBM & WIND Radio, WCIU-TV and NS Modern Luxury Magazine.

He is a former board member of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, and is on the boards of numerous charities. In 2016, he started his own 501(c)(3) organization called NorthShore Helpers, whose mission is to change lives in Chicago’s under-served communities.
